Holidays
So the holidays are fast approaching and I would absolutely love to deck the entire house out in holiday stuff. But I'm holding myself back... why? because I'm positive that my dear wonderful little 2 year old would tear apart the decorations the first chance he had. Also, our house is small! With the amount of toys and things everywhere there just isn't that much room to put up holiday decorations! I am deeply wanting to move into a larger home, however I have no idea when or even if this will happen. But oh to have a larger home... the ways I could decorate. So I think I may just put up one or two small things and wish for the best. I really do want the munchkin to have the joy of the holidays I do, but right now I still think he's too young to even notice!
Has it really been so long?
I can't believe I have not written in over 2 months! Ugh how horrible of me to be neglecting this page! I am terribly sorry for anyone out there that may actually read this blog. I will try my hardest to write at least once a week from this point on, and feel free to throw tomatoes at your computer screen if I do not.
Well so much has been occuring in my little munchkins life. He caught a cold about 3 weeks ago and his sleep and schedule has been completely off since. It did not help that at the end of his cold was the time change and that always throws me off. Take right now, he fell asleep (for his nap) at 3 and it is almost 5:30 and he is still asleep! He did wake at 6am this morning! oh did mommy not like that. I do have a plan though. I am awaiting his daddys return phone call to give my idea to him "DISNEYLAND!" Well, why not! If the munchkin sleeps any longer we can take him to that super happy place, run around, watch the fireworks and shows, etc, etc and then come home super late.... maybe just maybe if the gods are all on my side that would help the munchkin sleep in a little tomorrow and maybe even get back on some sort of schedule! Hmm here is hoping.
So our 2nd thanksgiving is just around the corner and this year rather than going across the country to see the grandparents they are coming to us! WOO HOO! The munchkin has not seen them since 2009 (in person) so this should be great. We are going to Disneyland with all the grandparents, a great-aunt and a cousin the Sunday prior to Thanksgiving. I am hoping it is not too terribly crowded and that we all have fun. Then it is the normal running around etc since the hubby has to work. Thanksgiving we are feasting at my parents home with some other family members. That Friday we will be going to the Living Desert for some animal and train watching and then that night both sets of grandparents will be with us as we go watch the lights as they are turned on at the Mission Inn. It shall be a very fun and busy week and I even have to fit in cooking for more than just my usual 3! Looking forward to it though!

Sleep talking or Awake?
So lately the munchkin has been stumping his daddy and mommy. We hear sounds coming from his bedroom, fullon converstaions even! We listen and listen, then sometimes we open the door, but we are not greated with that adorable little "HIIIII" instead no sounds issue forth. We have a sleep talker/player! For the last hour I have been listening as the little one has talked, banged the side of his crib, sang, and made other less distinguishable sounds. I opened his door and find a little one fast asleep on the bed! How crazy! I know I walked in my sleep as a child so I think I would much rather have him talk and make me think he is awake rather than have him go head first down the stairs!
With the increased sleep talking also comes another big milestone... His 2nd Birthday! I can hardly believe that my little munchkin is going to be 2 in just a little over a month! He has grown so very much, has developed by leaps and bounds, it amazes me that he was ever a tiny little baby! Ahh how time flies so quickly!

The land of the sleeping
So the past 3 weeks now it seems my munchkin has only one thing on his little mind... SLEEP! Oh how I never thought I would see this happen! He has been sleeping 12 hours at night and then taking a 3 hour nap in the late afternoon! Oh my goodness how this has just thrown me for a loop! Playdates and classes have had to be canceled due to his "sleeping in" and then his slow start to the day! The hubby and I are amazed at how much the little one wants to sleep and how he is putting up a very little fight compared to in the past! Oh how nice this is, although it can be a little bit annoying as well! He is definitely growing as a result of all this sleep, and man does my body feel it every time I go to pick him up. Although he is also becoming such a smart little one. He loves starting his ABC's from the letter I, he loves to do the Gymboree log freeze at the table while eating (it so cute since he does the little shoosh thing too!), he just started to use a fork without spilling the food from the fork (ok it's a spork but he doesn't need to know that), he can climb and run with the best of them, he loves to go outside and in the car in the morning and he absolutely loves his Gymboree class (although mommy doesn't like the fact that it is moving very far away from us and the drive is not so great!), oh and he loves hearing the story "Princess Baby Night Night" right before bed! So cute.
What an amazing little boy he is indeed!

Giggles
After a few trying days today has finally gotten to be a bit better. Dinner is over and the men of the house are upstairs playing. It's nice to skip out on my nightly chores and just sit back to listen to the sounds of giggles resonating from the upstairs bedroom. Daddy definitely knows how to make the munchkin laugh.
Baby Einstein is slowly being replaced with Sesame Street! Oh my goodness I never thought I would see the day. A few days ago I thought what they hay and I turned on a guitar episode of Seame Street. Let's just say the munchkin fell in love and now all day every day all I hear is "Street, Street" - his version of asking for Sesame. He loves watching the puppets and characters interact and gets a little bored with the cartoon segments, unless they have Elmo or Big Bird in them of course. It is rather adorable!

Time goes by too quickly
I realize with the birth of a friends baby girl that it is fast approaching a month since I last blogged about anything baby related. For that I am very sorry.
It seems as my munchkin is approaching the 2 year mark every bit of the terrible twos is surfacing on a daily basis. Now he does still have those wonderfully angelic days where I could just gobble him up, but alas, that is not every day! (I wish it was) Ahh the joys of toddledom. He has become Mr. I'm a Big Boy Now! First it was wanting a big boy chair to eat, then I want to walk and hold your hand when we go anywhere outside (ok the holding the hand is forced by me and daddyand he is complying for now), to the I don't want to go near you at all because you are not standing the right way mommy! Oh my goodness how my head hurts. I do love my son to death but man there are days that I'd like to run away from his little attitude. The hubby and I wanted an independent free thinker and man did we get one! Oh goodness.
Well on to developments. He has been keeping me on my toes this last month with so many new things happening ... I think I'll just list them to make it easier on myself:
1. Going down the stairs like a big boy, AKA I don't hold on to the rail because that is for babies
2. Using 2 to 4 words together to get an idea across, such as Mommy hat please on (meaning mommy put the dang hat on)
3. He let's you know when he would like to do something, Shoes outside car - meaning lets get a move on ma
4. Pretends to give and recieve kisses from his stuffed animals and toys, pretends to draw shapes and objects
5. Loves to climb and slide
6. Finds one or two special toys for the day and takes them everywhere with himself
7. Refuses food he doesn't like and has to be coaxed into eating it, even though he liked it last week
8. Loves hotdogs, cheerios and cheese
9. Has finally started to watch and enjoy Sesame Street, and will even sit on his Tigger chair to watch, although he loves to run to the screen and touch the letters he knows
10. Can recognize most of his letters, can count to 30 on his own with just a little help, says his own version of the ABC's that starts somewhere in the middle
11. Randomly was singing Row row row your boat on Friday (I believe it was) it was so cute we made sure to get it on film
and the list goes on and on.... so many growths and developments, I definitely love watching him grow up!

"I"m a big kid now"
So at 21 months my munchkin has decided that he is a Big Boy. Oh the headaches this has caused mommy and daddy as we try to determine what it is that our once slightly easy going child now wants. Today it was - I will feed myself, I want to sit on my big boy chair (booster seat at the kitchen table) all by myself, I want to climb and play on things that are way too dangerous for me... oh how the list goes on!
It is amazing to watch my little one grow and develop but at the same time trying to figure out what he wants and how he wants it is exhausting. Oh well at least it's wonderful to watch him grow up!
